Building a Fence in your Backyard
Fence designs are often controlled by your HOA or local jurisdiction. The first step is to check all requirements for allowed heights, materials, hardware and stain. When you have determined the type of fence to be installed, there are steps to installing the fence.
Call 811 to have underground utilities located before digging.
Layout end post locations by finding property pins to make sure the fence is going to be on your property.
Use a post hole digger or auger to dig the post holes.
Use a string line tied to the end posts to set all posts in a straight line. Use concrete to set the fence posts in the holes.
Install fence to fence posts using a nail gun for initial attachment and lag screws for permanent attachment of boards.
